Egyptian Ney Flute

The Ney flute is an end-blown flute, usually made from hollowed cane or reed, which is widely used in Middle Eastern music. It comes in many sizes, and has a range of two or three octaves depending on the skill of the player.

The Ney flute is one of the world’s most ancient instruments, and has been played continuously for about 5000 years. There are even depictions of Ney players in wall paintings in the Egyptian pyramids:
